Seriously? This is BS~

I am on week 4 of my weight loss, get fit, feel healthy journey of 2010. And I am down a whopping 3.2lbs! 3.2lbs!!! WTF?

  • I have been using all my allotted daily points
  • I have been using all my weekly points
  • I have been earning an average of 6 activity points 3-4 days a week
  • I have been using most of my activity points
  • I have been eating "filling" foods
  • I have been working out 3-4 days a week for at least an hour, but most days an hour and a half

...for 3.2lbs! BULLSHIT. Body after baby sucks ass. Metabolism after baby sucks ass.

Alright alright, so down 3.2 is still good. It is better than up 3.2. But really my goal by Baby K's 1st birthday was 10 lbs. I am disappointed that I won't be making that goal now....won't even be close

I must have done something wrong....

...I did my taxes with turbo tax and holy crap....I either did something really wrong, or I am going to pop out 3 more kids to keep getting a refund like this!!

I also am in year 2 of my house, so I get all the mortgage interest and taxes to apply.....

But the amount is making me think I did something wrong....

Potty Training session #1

Well after my shitty ass day yesterday I woke up this morning and called into work (thanks for encouraging me City Girl) and went back to bed. The whole dam fam slept till almost 9am! (hear the angels singing). I have spent the day chillin, placing my pea pod order for delivery tomorrow, playing with Baby K.

T made a comment (several times) while I was pregnant that he'd "have this baby potty trained by 6 mos like they do in India" Well here we are under 3 weeks from her being 12 months old and he has yet to make an attempt.

Over the past few days I have been trying cloth diapering again, it is going much better than it did when she was an infant, but T is not into it (funny cause he was the one that got me to buy them all initially cause he wanted to do cloth) so the days she has been with him, she wears the disposables but with me and MIL she will wear the cloth.

Anyway back to my post...I was playing with her and saw she was beginning to get her "I'm gonna poop" face so I scooped her up and off to toilet we went. I sat her down on the big toilet (no training one yet) and turned on the water faucet and we talked for a minute when all of a sudden the look came back and out of her little hiney hole came a poop! Then she tinkled just a little and was all done!

So in my opinion....potty training has begun and session #1 was a complete success!!

What a F*ing day!

One of "those" days...you know, we all have'em. We've all written about'em.

It all starts with the alarm going off, what feels like, literally seconds after you fell asleep. Then you hit the snooze button a couple times, and suddenly you overslept for over an hour....

Fine fine, shower, hair, makeup, coffee, pack the lunch...ok now we are back on track. Baby gets up, Mommy gets to change the morning diaper and cuddle for a few...

Time to head out..go to the car and realize I forgot to pour my coffee. Good thing I am still at home. Go back in, get my coffee and off I go.

So I back out of the garage into our turn around and proceed to then pull forward and to the right to head down the driveway when I hear it....the sound of metal on metal, scraping, pulling, scratching. I stop and look in the side mirror to see that my car and T's truck have become one with each other...MOTHER FU*KER!!!!! So what do I do? I put it in reverse.....Ouch..

I got out of the car to inspect the damage to find T's truck fine, I mean a little scuff on his bumper, but fine. My car though...a nice big dent and scratch covering both the front and rear passenger side doors. I turned to look at the house, you know to see if T had gotten up and was watching me out the window (likely laughing at me) but he hadn't (thankfully) so I quickly evaded responsibility and left the scene of the crime!

*my work day went fine, pretty busy, and went by rather quick*

On the way home I decided that I really wanted chinese food, so I called T and had him order it. I always order my food Xtra spicy, and T is good about doing that for me. When I got there, I went in to pick it up and made sure I reiterated the Xtra spicy again. When she bags the food I again ask for re-assurance that it is Xtra spicy...."Oooops so sorry, I gave yours away to that man driving away. But here is his super duper mild General Tso's" What the FU*K? How can you screw it up?

After I ate my super I logged into my FB account to find a message in my inbox. It was from a previous classmate of mine. She "just wanted you to know" that she got stuck paying for hotel rooms at the casino after xmas. And they only got rooms cause I (as in me) asked if they were getting rooms. (backstory - a large group of people I went to High School with met up at the local casino the Sat after xmas. One of the girls was coming all the way up from NC. While on FB I posted a question "are you planning on getting any rooms". I did wind up going that night, but left the casino around midnight and came home. I got violently ill from the food and it made for a miserable night). So clearly me asking if they were getting rooms, implied that I was planning on staying and paying? I don't know where you all live, but a room at the casino here on a Sat, after a holiday, is like $400 a night. I was not about to offer up to pay for that. Naturally, with her acting so Juvenile....I "un-friended" her. FU Beatch...

Now I want a beer and all I have is canned Heineken that someone left here (who the hell drinks that piss anyway?)

End bad day.....

How much would you pay?

Baby K has a special blanket, we call it her Na'Night. She cuddles it when she is getting sleepy, rocking to sleep, and sleeping.

I received 2 sage, chenille, Kyle & Deena blankets as shower gifts. This just so happens to be the blanket she chose to latch onto to. Bonus for us since we had 2!

Now that she is just about a year old, I thought about looking for another one of the same blankets so I could have another one in the rotation (I always have one clean and folded in the closet and I rotate between the two) in the event one gets lost, soiled beyond saving, or just plain old and grubby.

Well I looked at Babies-R-Us since that is where I was registered and they said they didn't carry that brand, hmmm. So I googled it (yup I googled) and found a few boutique type stores that sold them, but not the same one we have, and not chenille. I finally found one on ebay and it is listed for $49.99! Seriously, it would figure that baby K chose the expensive blanket to suck on at night!

So now I am faced with the decision...do I buy it? Do we really need a 3rd? $50 (plus shipping) is a lot for a baby blanket don't you think? I also found some on ebay that are different colors (light pink or dark pink) for half the price. I am considering buying one of those instead, but what if she won't take it because the color is different?

What are your thoughts?

Traveling with a child....

We are going to the FL Keys in 31 days. We (T and I) have been to the keys....I think 5 times, maybe it is 6. We haven't been in 2 years and we have never been with a baby (crap I think at that time I will have to call her a toddler!) I have been trying to figure out the best way to travel with her. I am going to run through what my thoughts are and would LOVE to hear from those of you that have traveled with an infant/toddler before.
  • We did not purchase her a seat on the plane. She will sit on our laps. It is a 2.5 hour flight and I chose flight times that were her nap times, in hopes that I can get her to sleep.
  • We are renting a car when we get there, and I found that we can rent a car seat at the car rental place, so that is a huge relief to not have to lug hers.
  • She has never slept in our bed, and we do not want to instill that habit while on vacation (it'll be bad enough being in the same room!) so I searched high and low for a travel bed. As much as I would have loved to get one new, the cost is just WAY too much. I found one that may work at a children's consignment shop. I got it for $15. It folds down to the size of a laptop case. We can fit it right in our bigger suitcase along with clothes. If it doesn't work I won't feel bad leaving it behind. If it does, then it will be a great $15 spent.
  • I was going to work on transitioning her away from the bottle fully before then, but have decided to wait until we get home for that. I do hope to have her on milk 100% by then though. It'll be almost 2 weeks after her birthday and my plan is to start her a bout a week before her b-day and take approx 2 weeks to get off the formula and solely on milk.
  • I won't be bringing any toys because the kid will keep herself busy with Tupperware and spoons. Besides we will be doing a lot of beaches, parks, zoos, etc, so she won't need toys right?
  • We'll be gone for 9 days. I was thinking bathing suit, 5 outfits, a few extra onesies and some light PJ's are sufficient for her and we can do laundry. She is not a messy kid in general, and at home wears the same thing all day, so I am not anticipating any issues down there.
  • Since airlines are charging for baggage now I decided no stroller either. We could put the umbrella stroller on the plane, but it would count as a carry on. I bought a sling at the consignment shop and Baby K can sit in it on my hip, back or front. We'll use it as needed. I am thinking she may be walking by then too. Worse case, their is a Walmart and a Kmart near by where we stay and I can go by a cheapo umbrella stroller.

I was looking into rental cars and was blown away by the expense! (We fly into Ft. Lauderdale and drive down to Key Largo to stay) When we went the last time our rental car for the week was around $250 for a cross over SUV. When I looked this time it was over $1200 for a compact car! wtf? Our entire vacation budget is like $1500, I can not spend it all on a car. I searched high and low and no matter what that was the price. One of the girls I work with did a search and came up to me and said she found cars for $150 a week! She had looked for rentals in Key Largo vs. FLL. Great except how do we get there from the airport? Lucky for us, my MIL will already be there! So I arranged for her to come get us and drop us back off at the airport and we can rent our car in the Keys saving over $1000!!! Even better, my MIL will rent the car seat saving me $60.

I can not believe how expensive it is to travel these days. T and I used to be able to go to the Keys for a week and the whole trip (flights, hotel, car, food, fishing, etc) would cost us less than $2000.

Climbing, coughing, hurting...

Random updates to follow.....

First things first...are your toes cold? Cause you still have time to participate in the Winter version of Sock it To Me. You can find the badge that wil link you to Kymberli's blog to sign up over there ---------> right below my weight loss tracker...

Which brings me to the next subject. My weight loss. I have done good in going to the gym 3 days a week like I planned. It is hard to do though. I don't usually go until around 8:30 9:00 at night which means I don't get home till after 10pm, and I don't know about you all, but I get a surge of energy after I work out, so of course I can not come home and go right to sleep. This is causing me to stay up later yet I still have to be up for work early. Needless to say I have been lacking some sleep and have slept late a few times, getting to work a bit late. But I have lost 3 lbs. I know it's not a lot, but for 2 weeks time, I am good with that number. My overall goal is to average 1.5 per week. I know some weeks it'll be less, and others it'll be more.

I am facing an issue now though. I seemed to have pulled something in my right knee. On Wed night I went to the gym with my niece and half way through my run I noticed my knee was hurting, I ignored it and ran the full 45 mins. Afterwards I completed my stretches and headed home. My knee has hurt ever since. It is at the point that I am taking 4 Ibuprofen every 5 hours or so. Also I have not been back to the gym since! I need it to get better. I am not a huge fan of lifting weights, I like to run and do a little free weights. If I can't run (the pain is so bad it hurts to walk too - so that and the elliptical would be out) then how can I get cardio in? I think today I put in a video I have that is all exercises using the ball...

It is a 3 day weekend, so of course I am not feeling well. I have an earache (I suffer from chronic ear infections) and a soar throat. My glands feel pretty swollen. Baby K felt pretty warm to me last night and I had noticed she was coughing and sneezing a bit at dinner time. I took her temp before bed and for her first time ever she had a fever over 100. Poor thing, it was 100.3. She wasn't acting any different, so obviously she feels ok, but it makes me sad to think that she could have a soar throat or something and can't tell me. Today her temp is 99.6. (question for the Mommies- do you give your babies Tylenol for a temp in the 99's? Or just over 100?)

In other Baby K news her new thing is climbing. I guess I knew this day would come, and have dreaded it (almost as much as i dread her walking). She has decided that Laundry and Dishes will be her chores as she gets older.

She took a digger this week and spent a good portion of the week with a nice egg and cut on her forehead. It is just about healed now.

The cat has decided he wants her to go away now. He used to love her, want to be near her all the time, now when she comes into a room he bolts to a location she get to him. I don't understand why?

She is going to be a year old in 23 days...where did the year go? I want to do it all over again, but slower....
I was going to talk about our upcoming vacation, but now my post is too long, so I'll do it separately...

Week 1 - plan weight loss

..was a success!

Tonight was my second weigh in at weight watchers. And I forgot how many people make the new years resolution to lose weight.

Holy bologna I was standing in line for over an hour to get weighed in! Since joining last week on Wed I have gone to the gym 4 times. Each time increasing my time on the treadmill (starting at 25mins now up to 45mins) as well as increasing my speed to a jog (tonight was my 5th night and I managed to jog at 5.0 for 25 mins!). I also did weights and abs 2 nights.

I had one day were my point value for the day was *gulp* 49! I am allocated 21 for the day and 35 extra for the week....oops. T and I had a date night that night and went to a really good Italian restaurant here in town. Damn Italians and their fabulous red wine... Most other days I averaged around 26 points a day. So overall I did well.

At the end of the week I was over my allocated points by 4. I thought for sure I would lose weight because of my exercising, but I really thought it would be under a pound, like .8 or something. But when I weighed in I was quite surprised and feeling really good about myself! 2.2 lbs lost this week - YAY me! It excited me. I even decided to hit the gym tonight..at 9:00 pm. Finally home now and getting ready for bed. (did you see my ticker over there? ----->)

Nighty Night all~

As it turns out....

...I don't have 20 lbs to lose! Yay for me!

I guess "technically" I do have 20lbs to lose, but "my" ideal weight is 143. I went to WW on Wed and was weighed in at 156. Per the text books I could be like 128, but anything below 140 does not look good on me, nor does it feel good. So my goal is 143.

So my revised goals are: 10lbs by Baby K's 1st birthday (2-8) and the remaining 3 by mid March. Then maintaining......

I went to the gym both Wed and Thurs. I am going to take today off cause my legs and belly are *killing* me.

Wed I did the treadmill for 30 mins and then did some crunches on the AB ball. Thur I spent my NYE in the gym (LOSER) with no one else there until right before I left, then some loser kid showed up and a chick to go tanning...I did the elliptical for 35 mins and then some AB machines and upper body with free weights.

I need to put together a workout "plan" for the week so I am not winging it when I walk through those doors.

The other exciting thing I did on NYE was play with the recipe builder on WeightWatchers.com. Holy crap. I dig that thing. Although I figured out that I am already almost out of my 35 bonus points for the week and I have only been back on WW for 2 days! Oh crap...

Gone are the days when I went out drinking till 2 or 3 am...and kissed random boys at midnight. Instead I think about how fat I am and lay in bed on my laptop...oh the joys of getting older.
