Old Wives Tales...

I thought I would google Gender prediction Wives Tales and see how I measure up to them and then after I have the baby revisit it....

1) Carrying High, Carrying Low

If you're carrying low, you're having a boy.

If you are carrying high, then you must be having a girl.

Me: Boy

2) Heartbeats

If you're having a girl, then the fetal heart rate will be above 140.

A boy will have a heart rate below 140.

Me: Girl (HB has been around 145)

3) Craving Something…Sweet?

If you can't get enough chocolate, you could be having a girl.

Sour cravings are a result of the little boy inside of you.

Me: Unclear (Not craving sweet...but not craving sour either. Not really "craving" anything.)

4) Weight Gain

If your partner puts on weight during your pregnancy, then you will be having a girl.

If he doesn't put on a pound, then you're carrying a boy.

Me: Boy (T has either lost weight or stayed the same so)

5) Face Round and Full?

Your face is round and rosy you are having a girl.

Me: Boy (I don't think my face has changed)

6) Breast test

If the right one is larger, you're having a boy!

A larger left breast indicates a girl!

Me: Unclear (they look and feel the same size)

7) Pendant/ring test

If the necklace swings back and forth, you're having a boy.

If it is more of a circular motion, then it's a girl.

Me: Girl

8) Acne

Getting acne during your pregnancy indicates you're carrying a girl.

Me: Girl

9) Gut instinct

Moms-to-be correctly guess the sex of their baby 71% of the time

Me: Girl (T also thinks it's a girl)

Total Tally:

Boy: 3

Girl: 4

Unclear: 2

I guess we'll know for sure in about 4 more months...

Road Trip....

We are taking a few days away before I get to uncomfortable for travel.

T and I are going to Niagara Falls this weekend! Neither of us have never been there before. I have driven through Canada to get to Michigan but other than that this is our first trip there.

I booked us a Canadian side, Falls View Room at the Marriot on the falls. Got a pretty decent rate with my AAA discount. T could care less about the view but I really want to see it as much as possible.

We are planning to do all the cheesy tourist stuff...the Maid of the Mist (takes visitors on a boat ride at the foot of Niagara Falls for a wet and wild view of the 13-story falls from below.) The Journey Behind the Falls (sounds like thunder as you descend to tunnels that travel to Observation Decks literally behind the falls.) and the White Water Walk (the boardwalk on the edge of the Niagara white waters).

Since we both have to work this Saturday, we'll be leaving Sunday morning around 8am and I figure it should take us around 8 or 9 hours to get there (of course it could be longer since I'll need to pee at least once an hour). We will be able to spend all day Monday and Tuesday there, grab breakfast on Wed and head out.

Hoping that we will see some great foliage on the way up and back as well. CT is already starting to turn, so I would assume that parts of northern MA, VT, and NY will be peaking right now.

Have you ever been to Niagara Falls? Have any suggested sights to be seen? Have you been to any other of the 7 wonders of the world? (This is T's second 7th wonder- he's been to the Grand Canyon. This is my first, I missed out on the a Taj when I was in India)

It's like the weather...

...just wait a few minutes and it'll change.

First let me say that this blog will not always be consumed with Baby talk...

T was able to feel the baby move last night, it was great. I only started to feel it on Wednesday myself, but last night it was moving like crazy! I think my placenta may have shifted a bit to the left cause I could feel real kicks on the right, right under my rib cage.

After dinner I noticed how strong they were so I put my hand there for a few to see if I could feel them and sure enough I could, so T sat there with his hand on me for a while and wham he got a boom boom under his hand.

Very cool~

Potty Mouth....

(2 in one day!)

I realized this afternoon that I swear a lot...like a real lot.

I am going to need to work on that before the baby comes. I can already picture it saying it's first word to my Moter in law......bitch....shit.....fuck....just some of my favorites..

What is your favorite "bad word"?

Random..

Rain Rain go away.....

It's pouring out there....another tropical storm takes us down on a Friday and Saturday. I wouldn't mind it so much except that I have to go into downtown to our main office in a little while (for a class that will teach me how to identify and train my successor-makes you feel warm and fuzzy doesn't it?) which requires me to walk through the rain, drive through the rain, carry a dripping wet umbrella around..just eck...

Baby X update

I am fairly certain I am feeling some movement finally!! I don't understand why people say it feels like butterflies or gas...that's not what it feels like to me. The best way for me to describe it, is it feels like when your eye does that twitching thing..you know like a muscle spasm (but without pain). I felt it often on Wed and Thur this week...nothing today, but it's only lunch time.

When I told T about the movement and described it to him he says...."Oh I love when that happens (the eye spasm) I try to stay really focused so it lasts a long time" OMG what a doofus. I can't believe I (a) made a baby with this wacky man (b) am going to leave a baby with him unattended.

It did make me laugh so hard I thought I would pee myself (although that's not too hard these days either).

Shitty shit work place update....

...it still sucks. There was a time that I loved my job. And it really was not all that long ago. Yesterday was a bad, really Bad, day. I was thrown under the bus by a manager that is higher in the shit pole than I am, but seriously thrown under the bus with no defenses. It was wrong, really wrong.

There was a Happy Hour last night for our VP who has decided to leave the company (cause he clearly can afford it!), my old boss offered to buy me a soda pop if i went....I went and he bought me a Nice Tall Cold Pint of Long Trail. Wow it really hit the spot. So many people gave me this "look" but then turned around and asked if I was going to drink a glass of red wine...what the hell is the difference? So I had a beer instead of wine, at least beer has wheat, barley, oats. Wine has grapes. Well I had had my fill of fruit already thank you very much!

Mmm.. that beer was the best beer I have drank in my entire life.

This place is turning to shit...

...This place being my work place.

I work in IT, as do several of you reading this...and we have processes for everything...I am waiting for the process to be rolled out for when we need to take a shit during business hours...

The thing that pisses me off the most is that we (IT) is held to following our processes, but when our customers decide to not follow it, it's ok and we have to suck it up and take it. Well it is bullshit.

My job is seriously stressing me out lately. It can't be good for me, it can't be good for the baby. I just had my BP checked and it was normal (thankfully) but I had it checked cause my chest frigin hurts. It hurts to breath, it hurts to think about breathing.

My staff is burnt out, I am burnt out. We work 12 hour days, then go home and log in to work 3-5 more hours. We log in over the weekends, during vacations, holidays, etc...

All just shit...a big pile of shit.

New belly pic..

Here is my 21 Week shot. I will get into the "even" weeks starting next week. For some reason every time I take a pic it is an "odd" week. Not that it matters I guess...maybe it means i will deliver on an odd week...hmmmm.

I definitely look smaller with my belly covered.

The hard life....

...of a cat.

This is how he spent his Saturday.....

And his Sunday.......

Baby X update....

We went for our "Big" ultra sound today...I drank 32 oz of water on my way there only to have the US tech ask me to pee within a few minutes of my test. She said my bladder was too full :)

Anyway the US took approx an hour. Our little one was moving around like crazy. I mentioned that I could not feel anything yet, she advised that I have an Anterior Placenta so it is causing a bit of a cushion between my belly and baby, so I will likely not feel movement until later in pregnancy. Kind of sad to hear that, since it tends to make it "real".

Because the baby was moving around so much she had me turn to lay on my side a few times so she could get the shots she needed....we did not ask for the $$money$$ shot! We are still remaining with our decision to not find out the gender, although I will admit, I tried to sway T a bit this morning. He stood firm though. I really don't think she would have been able to tell anyway...with all the squirming going on.

So I have my next OB appt in a week, I'll learn then if there are any concerns, although the tech didn't lead us to believe there were any.

Here are a couple of new shots for you to enjoy....

Profile Picture...poor thing has my nose!

...was laying on his/her belly, spine up, head on the left.

My belly at 19W, it is a bit higher and more centered than a couple of weeks ago.

We went to start our registry after the appt (ugh..it will take me at least 3 more visits! It is VERY overwhelming!) This is the bedding set we chose...

No more negative Nelly.....

I made a decision yesterday morning on my way into work...no more bitching and moaning about how shitty I feel.

Things could be A LOT worse than a back ache and random puke attacks.

I will from here on out...be grateful that with each appointment that I have I am told that I am progressing normally. I have this mini human in me, that has a heart beat and is growing stronger each day (although not quite strong enough to punch it's mother in the gut yet! Or kick me in the bladder!).

So please put me in my place when you find me complaining...about pregnancy that is. I still reserve the right to bitch about other stuff.

The end of a long weekend...

I hate long weekends, I really do. They are just so damn depressing. I get all relaxed and unwound and then Wham- HA HA you have to go back to work! On a normal weekend I don't get to that mode of relaxation. But a long weekend I do, I start to feel like when I am on vacation.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I came home from work on Friday early cause I was sick as a dog. I could not keep anything down that I ate or drank (sorry TMI). Finally around 2pm I sent my staff home and headed there myself.

When I arrived I made myself a PB&J and went to bed. I managed to get 1/2 the sandwich down and was feeling icky so I laid down and covered my sandwich.......off to dream land I went......and did not wake up until nearly 17 hours later! Not even to pee! I was just so dehydrated from being so sick all day that I guess i didn't need to go.

I did wake up at one point to T screaming bloody murder because when he came into the bedroom I had the TV on (fell asleep with it on) and it was probably on Discovery Health or some other medical show, and apparently there was a woman giving birth in her car after being in a car accident. He FREAKED! He couldn't find the remote fast enough. I recall waking up looking at the TV, laughing and telling him he'd better get over this fear of his...and back to sleep I went.

Anyway, my Saturday was spent pretty much vegging on the couch eating egg noodles and drinking water. Sunday I was feeling a bit better, T and I went out for breakfast and he went to a "Guitar Summit" aka "guys only party" at a friends and I went to a local fair to walk around. Monday was a BBQ at his Mom's where his family got to see the belly for the first time. We were certainly the center of attention on Monday.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Monday evening we came home from the BBQ and watched a movie...I think it was called Before the Devil Knows Your Dead. It had Philip Seymour Hoffman in it (I love him!). It also had Ethan Hawke and Marissa Tomei (sp?). It was a really good movie. Sunday night we watched I'm not There, the movie depicting various stages of Bob Dylan's life....I was not too impressed. I suppose if I was a bit more knowledgeable about his life and history then I would have enjoyed it more. It was made by the same director that made Palendromes, which I thought was a really bizarre but very cool flick..
