Stuff it....

Basically that is how I feel right now, like telling the universe to stuff it!

I cannot tell you the amount of BS people are giving me because I chose to stay home tonight, Halloween, and hand out candy, instead of dragging my not yet 2 year old (who cannot say trick or treat nor does she eat candy) out into the cold night air. I have taken her to a ridiculous amount of pumpkin patches, to an all kids costume party, and to the local trick or trunk. She will not miss out on any life experiences by staying in the warm house, handing out candy to the kids and going to bed on time. Yet you would be amazed at the number of people giving me a hard time about this!

It doesn't really help that I am not a fan of Halloween to begin with. But when she is older I will certainly get into it and T is Super good at Halloween makeup, so I am sure we have many years of blood, guts and goblins in store for us.

I guess I feel about Halloween the same way I feel about Christmas and Birthdays. At this young age, when she does not grasp the holiday in it's entirety, I do not see the point in putting a ton of energy on it. We did not buy her any Christmas gifts last year, and will keep it very small this year. For her birthday we bought her 2 things and again, probably won't change much this year. As far as Halloween, Easter, Valentines days, etc....why would I bother for another couple of years? I mean really?

In these difficult financial times I am trying to think economically as well. I think about how I could go way overboard buying all sorts of stuff -OR- I could save that $30, $70, $150 and put it in our savings account so we can have a really special holiday when she is older and will really remember it....

Or maybe I am just cheap~

Words.....

...for my own record keeping, Little K's words to date (most only T and I would recognize):
momma, dadda, cracker, cookie, dvd, ketchup, done, pop, ice cream, please, thanks, thank you, map, backpack, duck, cat, eat, easy, milk, grape

sounds she makes:
meow, pants like a dog, blows like an elephant, quack, chirps like a bird, roar for dinosaur/bear/monster, moo

Coming soon....

....new photos! My old, beat up, crappy point and shoot died it's last death. The only mode of photography I have had for the past 3 weeks has been my phone, which is not intended to be a primary camera. Especially during pumpkin season!
After work tonight I went to best buy so I could touch, look at, play around with cameras. I knew I needed something non-complicated, however I wanted speed, zoom, clarity, and good color, along with different modes. The people were as helpful as you would expect for $8 an hour. I was able to narrow down my selections and came home to review, compare and study.
After nearly 3 hours of research I decided on the Fujifilm FinePix S1800. I actually decided on the S2550, the only difference was HD video oh and $80, so I went with the lower model that has "regular" video.
This will be my 3rd Fujifilm in a row. The first 2 I did not pay for, which of course made them even better (we used to have an awards program at work where you accumulated points, I got them both that way)! They've always been good cameras, that have traveled the world with me. I am looking forward to playing around with my new toy.
I got a great deal on amazon.com so I splurged and got 2 day shipping so I'll have it by Halloween.....

Friday night leftovers...full moon edition

Let's see....

  • I returned the gym this week, after a nearly 6 week hiatus. I hadn't been back since fracturing my foot. It is finally feeling better so I got back on the horse.
  • I must say, exercising does make me feel better after I do it. And I mentally feel better since I know the benefits. But when I get home and eat a bag of Doritos it makes me ponder the value in it all....
  • I applied for a new job this week. Something internal to my company, yet in a new organization and back in our home office (and 25 minute commute!). I just applied Tuesday and well, no HR call back yet. I am probably over qualified for the position which in today's market can be just as bad as under qualified....sometimes worse. It would be great to get something new, but as each day passes I feel that my chances of being let go when we do our next round of sourcing are lowering (not quite sure if that is good or bad though)
  • Little K has recently discovered the art of dipping her food into other food substance. She **really** enjoys this and pretty much won't eat a meal any longer unless she has a cup of some sort of dip substance. So far her favorites are ketchup and yogurt. Not at the same time (although that has occurred).
  • I am taking her to a costume party tomorrow. There are supposed to be 34 other kids there (I am wearing earplugs as my costume), pumpkin decorating, trick or treating, food and fun. It is one of the meet up groups I joined. I have not done any activity with them yet. This'll be my first.
  • Speaking of meetups I have now had 2 meetups with my group. The first was a flop. Not because of me, but because of the place. It was lame. Tonight we had one at a "Not So Scary" Hay ride. It was cute. At a local Horse farm, very much oriented for ages 2-6.
  • I have officially begun my xmas shopping. Normally I am done by Turkey day, but I have had a late start. I also already got invites to participate in 3 cookie swaps. I will be declining all but 1. Last year I think I made 875,983 dozen cookies. (I make really good oatmeal, craisen, chocolate chip cookies)
  • The other night in bed I was watching Criminal minds repeats on ION or FX or one of those channels that always has on CSI, Law and Order, or Criminal minds, and the episode on was the season 1 finale, then at 11pm the season 2 premiere came on. I really wanted to watch it, so I forced myself to stay awake so I could see what happened. I made it.....48minutes into the episode. I missed the final 12 minutes. The 12 minutes that I waited for through 2 hours. I can not find the flippin episode online to watch! WTF!

Diarrhea of the mind is brought to you by Danifred~

I am seeing orange......

I am pretty certain that I have had enough Pumpkin Patches to last me a life time! In the past 3 weekends we have visited 5 of them. Yes 5 of them. Little K very much enjoys them though, she calls them "Maps" (beats me!) We have brought home pumpkins from each visit. Pumpkins that will just sit outside and eventually rot. But my child adores them. She kisses them, hugs them, carries them around with such care.....my girl and her "Maps".

$1,000,000......

If you were given $1,000,000, yes just a million (!) what would you do with it? Really think about that.....a $1,000,000 doesn't go all that far these days.

Would you go to school? Would you quit your job? Would you buy a larger home? Travel the world? Donate to a charity close to your heart? Invest? Save it for your child(rens) education?

Dangerous jobs...

As I sit here watching the Chilean miner rescue beginning, it makes me so thankful, grateful, that I have not had to choose such a dangerous occupation.

I am not of the praying kind, but I truly hope that these men make it out. I cannot imagine the post traumatic stress they will endure....Please just let this all end well.......

It is amazing.....simply amazing.....the 1st rescuer jest arrived in the mine, the technology is incredible. Let the rescue begin!

Monday Madness.....

So much on my mind, in my head, yet having a really difficult time getting it to makes it's way to the end of my fingers.....

  • Last week I worked 64 hours, so far this week (it is only Monday) I have worked 13

  • It seems like almost every blog I read is pregnant right now, makes me a little envious

  • And the couple that aren't, break my heart

  • Last night was the first time in 7 nights I did not have a house guest....and I got AF. No intimacy for us...

  • My wedding anniversary is at the end of this month, it's either the 28th or 29th...I need to make myself a note to go check the date

  • Little K is still not saying much, I know I should call the birth to 3 again, but I am ashamed that she does not talk because I have done something wrong (I know I haven't, but it is a guilt thing)

  • My job really sucks lately, people are jumping left and right which makes it all the more difficult for the rest of us to do our jobs

  • My meetup group has 10 members now, too bad no one wants to come to my meetups (losers)

  • We closed on our re-fi last week. I wound out totally lucking out too. My Mortgage payment is automatically withdrawn on the 1st of every month at night, well the attorney asked for my payoff amount as of the 1st so they locked my account and never withdrew my October payment. Then when you re-fi (or buy) you pay in the rear (literally and figuratively) so I get to skip November too! This allows me to put what I would have paid as a mortgage payment ($1909) back into my savings for 2 months instead of 1. And to top it all off, the loan amount we took minus all the fees and payoff was $481 higher than I needed so I got a check back!

  • My front passenger tire keeps going flat, there doesn't appear to be a nail in it, just a leak of some other type

  • My teeth cleaning went horribly bad! I blame it on a change in toothpaste. About a year ago Mentedent went off the market, I ran out of my stock about 5 months ago. I had to get 2 fillings (replaced one I had since I was 9, and repaired the other)

  • The next day my Mom called to tell me Mentedent was back on the market! I found it at the store today......bought 8 refills and a pump!

I guess that is enough random madness for tonight.

All you ladies that have dealt with IF over the years, please swing over to wish Moosh luck. She is going through IVF right now and had 18 (that's high right?) eggs retrieved! The countdown is on for implantation.....

i am trying out posting from my phone...i find that i rarely have time to update from home or work these days, sometimes i find myself sitting in the card with little k sleeping in the backseat. this might be my new "blogging" time....
