Cute baby Saturday....screw that

In order to participate in cute baby saturday you'd have to have a cute baby. Now yes i do have 2 rather adorable little shits here in this household, however today they were far from cute. Frankly, they were fucking assholes today. Both of them. So I am boycotting todays posting tradition to be the voice for all Mom's and Dad's. It's okay to say it, really it is, and honestly it feels great to get it off your shoulders. My kids are fucking assholes. See I said it. Now it's your turn. Go ahead outside while your neighbors are lighting off their fireworks and scream it as loud as you can, I'll wait here...... My kids are fucking assholes! My kids are fucking assholes! My kids are fucking assholes!......see doesn't that feel good?

Friday Night Leftovers....the "It's Saturday" edition!

Looks like lots of people had a late run on leftovers this week. Swing over to Sippy cups to see what was on the menu. (WTF IS WITH BLOGGER ON THE IPAD SCRUNCHING ALL MY LINES TOGETHER? I think I hate blogger) * K has an odd way of measuring my abilities to play with her. Hr big thing over the past few weeks has been to ask to see my belly button. She will ask over and over "is your belly button in yet?". It didn't make sense until she explained that once my belly button was in I would be able to give her piggy back rides...ahh it all makes sense now * She has also been very competitive lately. I hear a lot of "I winned you losed!". * It has been over 100 degrees here for the past 3 days. We don't have AC in our house, other than window units in our bedrooms. So we have spent a huge amount of time at my MIL's house. I caved and went in the pool before my 6 week appt. There was no way I was sitting there and not swimming in that heat. Fingers crossed I don't get a weird infection now. * Over those 3 days K has become a very strong and confident swimmer. She wears her life jacket or swimmie's and can swim back and forth across the pool multiple times, tread water, and jump in from the side. I hope to gather swimming sans the aids by the end of summer. * S is a super duper cry baby. Although the past 3 days he's been really good. Don't get me wrong, we've had more good than bad days, but when he has a bad day, it's REALLY BAD! * I have been researching Colic and treatments for it. I found a lot of info on Pediatric Chiropratic adjustments. I just so happen to be going to the Chiro this week and discussed it with him and he gave me the info for a Chiro he brings his 4 month old daughter to. I am bringing S on Monday morning to be evaluated. What I can find is that babies born under traumatic or stressful circumstances often have a misaligned spine, hips, shoulders, etc which can cause pain and result in an overly fussy/cranky baby. What can it hurt right? * Because of his crankiness I have been wearing him in the Moby a lot. This has tweaked my back. Hence my visit to the Chiro. My X-rays showed some scoliosis in my lower back and neck. This resulted in me being prescribed a 3 day a week for 9 week program to correct. Ugh * I had 2 nights out this week! T and I went to NoHo to see Matthew Sweet. We were out/away from both kids for 7 hours. S was miserable and cried for a good 4 of those, but GiGi handled it. The other one was last night. I met one of my girlfriends for a couple of martini's and conversation. It was awesome. (It also helped that S slept for order 5 hrs straight last night and then went back down for another 3!) * Only 2 weeks left out of work. I am starting to get anxious....in a bad way * K doesn't say J's. She pronounces them as G's. I need to find some speech exercises to work on this. There is a little girl at the pool that she loves, her name is Julie but K calls her Goolia. T's best friend is Uncle Jon, known by ask as Uncle Gon. Her new thing she says is "I am Goking with you" vs. Joking. * S does not sleep at all unless he is both swaddled AND wearing a hat. Weird child. * I need to go shower and eat something now cause I am off to the dentist in a couple hours to have a filling resurfaced. That means no eating for me for several hours after since I require enough novacaine to numb an elephant!

Cute Baby Saturday....looks who's 1....1 month that is!

My Dear cranky, over tired, pre-madonna of a son....you are 1 month old today! How is it that 4 weeks have passed since you joined us? To say you are different from your sister would be an under statement.

Things we have learned about you during these few weeks:
-you HATE to have a wet diaper
-you are not a fan of the bouncy seat, swing, playmat...pretty much anything that is not Mommy's chest or swaddled in your crib
-you will not sleep for any length of time without being swaddled
-you have specific cries for being hungry, tired, or wet

S, you've gained a whole pound as of 2 weeks ago AND have grown a full 2 inches! (9lb 11oz and 22.5 in) You are very quickly growing out of your 3mos clothes already-SLOW DOWN!!

Any amount of over stimulation throws you off for the whole day. Which makes for a stresed out Mom and Dad.

You my little love, hate the car seat. Luckily in most cases you do sleep in the car though. This is of course after screaming bloody murder for several
minutes first.

You light up when ever your sister walks into a room. She is a bit jealous of the attention you get, but she is so loving towards you. She is gentle and sweet with you. I can't wait to watch your friendship and love for each other to blossom.

You have changed so much since the day you were born and will change so much more in the days and weeks to come. We can't wait to see what you have in store for us!

Happy 1 Month birthday little one!

Friday Night Leftovers....I'm all over the place edition

(posting from my phone so please excuse any typos) *My hormones are so out of whack. I cry, rage, or laugh at the blink of an eye. *Only 2 wks of maternity leave and 1 wk of vacation left. *This baby is a total pre-madonna. He cries the second his little wee drip just a little bit into his diaper. Yet the kid can take a major dump and then fall immediately to sleep in it. *T and I are watching Little House on the Prairie right now. It is the episode when Mary goes away to blind school. I am sitting here balling my eyes out. Damn you Little House! *I am not thinking I will make it the full 6 weeks for no swimming. I will be lucky to make it another couple days. What do you think? I have no more post partum bleeding, isn't that a sign that my cervix is closed? Also I had no tears during labor. *T and I have tickets to a concert for Sunday night. We will be gone for at least 7, maybe 8 hours (the show is in Northampton Mass. a good 1.5 hrs north of us, add in dinner, drive time and show). I am having major anxiety about leaving S alone with Granny. MAJOR ANXIETY! *I so wish I could be a stay at home mom a little longer. *T is finally gettng around to staining our deck! He stripped it last year but nevergot around to finishing it. Finally we have a forcast with several warm and dry days in a row, so he got to work on it today! Woot hoot for being able to put out my patio furniture! *I think S's eyes are going to be brown like Mom's! He'll be a whole month old tomorrow. Stay tuned for a special "Cute baby Saturday". Swing over to Sippy Cups to see what everyone else is serving up~

Friday Night Left Overs.....over the edge

* K is out of control. Put simply, she is a little bitch. I am sure it is all related to baby jealousy, but seriously, she acts like one of "those" kids that I fucking hate! * S cries a ridiculous amount. For realz people! * I read that newborns should sleep 12-20 hrs a day. He is most certainly on the lower end of that spectrum and when he is awake he is screaming. * I lost my shit on K today. To the point that I had to lock myself in my room and call T to come home and take her away. I cried, she cried. I know I frightened her, honestly I frightened myself. * The moment they left S woke back up. Today has been tough,he has only taken 1 solid nap, the rest of the day we were lucky to get him to fall asleep for 15-20 mins but as soon as we'd put him down, or after a short period he would wake up again screaming for another hour or so. * K wound up falling asleep in T's truck around 5:45. We tried to wake her up around 6:30 to no avail. It is now 9:30 and she just woke up. AWESOME * Tomorrow we are supposed to take K to her first fishing tournament. I am beginning to think that we may be pushing it. It is a good 30 mins away and we need to be there and registered by 8am. Oh yeah, we have no sitter so we are planning to bring the baby too. Yeah pushing our luck... * My Mom was here for two weeks. She went home Tuesday. I wish she could have stayed longer or come later. This is when I could use the help. :( * I hate our infant carseat. I will be going to by a new one this week. The sucky part is that we have 3 basis for this one. I can pretty much guarantee that I will not find another one that fits the same base. * S had his 2 week check up. He was 9lbs 11oz and 22.5 inches. Good growing boy. Now if we could get him to stop crying and take longer sleeps.... * I am at that awkward post partum stage where my maternity clothes are too big and I am constantly pulling the pants up, but y pre pregnancy clothes are stills bit tug in the middle section. I hate this part.

Which direction is the right one?

K is very artistic, in multiple ways.  She has developed quite the skill for painting. Musically she can hold a beat, carry a tone fairly well, and gets the hang of most instruments.  Her imagination is strong and she very much enjoys making up her own stories.  But are all 3 year olds like this?  is mine that talented? At what point as a parent should we make the decision to enroll our child in formal lessons for something we think they have talent (and an interest) in?  Do we wait for them to tell us they want to know more? or by then is it too late? T along with his Father and brother have tons of musical talent.  He plays piano, guitar, bass, harmonica, as well as sings and writes his own music.  His brother played piano and guitar and wrote and sang his own music. His dad played piano.  This is in addition to my grandfather who was a working musician at the age of 10.  playing in bars jazz bands and making more $ than his father. he even managed to stay out of two wars by being in the military bands.  T and his dad and brother are skilled writers.  He dabbled in art as a youngster and his brother went to college for art.   Do I react to my instinct that our kid has talent in these areas to start her in lessons? Piano? Violin? Guitar? Or do I sit back, wait, and let her express her interests?

Things I forgot...

....about having a Newborn.

*how dry your hands get from the excessive hand washing

*that you will not enjoy a hot cup of coffee for several weeks (because everytime you pour one the baby cries)

*how well you can function on 4-6 hrs of very broken sleep

*how easy it is to cry when things get over whelming

*how difficult it is to accomplish ANYTHING in a 2-3 hr window

*that Mom's afternoon out will consist of groceries, dentists, errands....not mani, pedi, massage and martinis

*that Blog time suffers cause there is no time

*how cute freshly washed baby hair is

*how much I hate baby spit up in my boobs (especially whwn it is nice and dry from hours earlier)

*how many flippin diaper changes we go through! Seriously, we are going through like 20 diapers a day
