Cute baby Saturday....end of vacation edition
I've been on vacation for over 2 weeks now. I don't go back until after Labor Day. I can't say I've minded all this time off.

When is the right time?
This guy here, he's been a part of our family for over 18 years. He was our first and only pet. He has slept with us, woke us throughout the night, killed rodents and birds, eaten frogs, been in fights, licked his sister's head until it was raw, snuggled on my pregnant belly, destroyed more bunny nests than I care to admit, brought half dead animals into the house.
He's always been a big, beefy, hearty, muscular kitty. A good 20lbs for most of his kitty life.
The past two (maybe even three) years haven't been that great for this boy. He's faced numerous health issues. He frequents the VET every 4-6 weeks for antibiotic and steroid shots. He's even required several enemas due to digestive issues from all the steroids he is on.
He's down to less than 12 lbs now. When I pet him all I feel is his skeleton. He falls down a lot. He eats very little. He won't drink out of a bowl anymore, only out of the toilet.
He just doesn't seem happy to me. He is old. He is in pain all the time.
For me, it's time to let him go. Time to let him finally rest. For T it's not. We just don't agree on this point. We have said goodbye to him before and T took him in and had him shot up and cleaned out yet again.
The past few days he has been in obvious pain. Pain to the point that he vomits. He falls over. He spends most of his time laying on the bathroom floor.
T is bringing him into the VET in an hour. He'll ok more treatment and we'll be back here again in at her few weeks.
At what point is it time? Here we have this right to make a decision on Quality of life for our pets and yet we (he) continue to let them suffer. Why? Because we will be sad to let them go? Because its too hard to make the decision?
All I know is I am ready to let him go. I love him and have given him a long and very full life. But I don't think he is living anymore.
I just wish T could get to this decision too.

NYC
I took an overnight trip to the city last week. I was able to spend all of Thursday and Friday in the city. Some relatives from MT are here visiting and had never been to the city so it was a nice to take them and be their tour guide.
We covered Times Square, Rockefeller Center, China town, Little Italy, SoHo, Staten Island ferry, Statue of Liberty, and the Empire State Building. Whewww, that is a lot in 2 short days!

The voice of a 4 year old
(After spending a lot of the day walking) My feet are talking to me and they're saying "ouch"
(During dinner-trying to communicate that she is full) My food is up to my throat
(Headache) The brains in my hair hurt
(Random statement) Busted means you're grounded
(Another random - but we later realized it was from The Wizard of OZ) Hitting her head, I need to get these crickets out here

Friday Night Leftovers
It's been a while since I've done one of these...
-Recently the topic of McDonalds has come up a few times. Not just McD's but fast food in general. I have shocked every single person with the fact that K, now at the age of 4yrs 4mos, has never eaten "fast food". I personally haven't eaten it in probably a good 16 years, maybe longer. I have no intentions of her eating it anytime soon either.
-K has only 2 more days of school!! Then she is off for summer. I can't even begin to tell you how much I am looking forward to NOT making lunches.
-She will be starting a new Pre K in the fall, and increasing to 3 days a week.
-We are in the beginning of our first North East "heat wave". S is proving to be a sweaty little guy! Both of my kids sweat like their dad! In general I am not a sweaty person.
-On Monday I am attending a United Way event, Power of the Purse. It is a huge networking event with silent auction and lunch. I am going as a guest of one of the vendors I work with. Each seat was $100 so it's pretty nice that I don't have to pay my own way.
-I am taking the kids to the Zoo this Weekend. We are meeting some of T's cousins and their babies (what are they then? Second cousins?)
-This week is also my home towns Carnival on the Green. Tonight (Friday) we'll bring the kids. K has been asking about it since she saw the set up starting on Sunday.
-I hate candy crush. Seriously. Hate it
-Kid's school Pics came in today. They are really disappointing. Most are either blurry and/or off center. Too bad too cause the kids look super cute in them all.
-These kids perplex me. On any morning where we have no where to be and no reason to be up and out, they both wake up with the birds. But on days that I go into work and have to drop K at Pre School they are impossible to wake up. When either or both sleep at MIL they sleep until 7:30-8! One morning last week both slept until 9 when T had to wake them up! Why can't they do that on a morning that I can sleep.
-S is a biter. It's like we have a dog in the house. He crawls around biting our ankles, calves and knees.
-The free splash pad at the park and rec apparently has a broken part and won't be open until 6/25! That also coincides with the first day of summer camp. It really sucks for those of us that like to get out visits in before the campers are there.
That's all for now. Swing by an check out Danifred's updates to know who else is playing this week. (Did this from my phone so apologies for misspellings!)

Happy 1st birthday Boy!
He's a big boy now! A whole year old. We had a great party with a couple if close friends and their kids, as well as a few relatives.
This boy loves all things with wheels. If it moves he chases it. Hooting and hollering the entire time. He is also extremely destructive. If he can reach it, he will wreck it. Because of this I had a construction themed party.
The weather didn't cooperate so we all crammed into my house for the afternoon, but it all worked out fine.
The kids painted bird feeders, ate pizza, munched on cake and then I let each kid guest open the present they brought for S.
It was short and sweet. And my boy, getting his first real dose of sugar, was up way past his bedtime!
The last of firsts
We celebrated our last 1st birthday in our house this past weekend. While I was thrilled about it, it got me reflecting on the fact that we are entering the stage where we begin to celebrate some last firsts...first words, first step, first shiner, first tooth, first food, first birthday. You get my drift.
A little over a year ago this would have depressed the shit out if me. At this point however, it thrills me!
All of our baby gear is gone. I took every last bit of it to a consignment sale and sold 95% of it. Now we are making our way out of baby toys and into little tykes and Tonka trucks.
Gone are the baby bottles and cartons of formula. Jarred food no longer fills my cupboards. Mesh feeders are used only on hot days with an ice cube for cooling down. Rubber coated spoons have been tossed. Spit rags are off the shelves and infant towels no longer fit the big boy he has become.
I love this age. This stage. I am so looking forward to the summer and how much fun he will be.

Three things Thursday
In the past four days I have received six different messages from people they are pregnant. I can't tell you how happy it makes me I am not. In recent years pregnancy announcements really got me sad, Because I really wanted another baby. But now that we have S and K I'm all done, and at peace with that decision.
Only 12 more days of school for K. I can't wait to not have to make lunches for the summer. I decided to take her out of preschool for the summer and start a new school in the spring.
Had my top 2 wisdom teeth out a week ago. It is an excellent way to drop a few pounds.
