What an exhausting week this has been. As I said in my last post, my BIL was found dead on Sunday. From what we can gather he died on or around 8/7. This has left T and his Mom in a bit of a conundrum. My BIL was pretty distant from us. Just because he had his own life and friends and didn't live near us. Since K was born we have seen him pretty often. At least every 6 weeks. He adored her (who doesn't?). Back to the point, we really don't know much about his personal life. This leaves us grasping at straws about so many things. Never mind the fact that T is trying to plan and organize a memorial service in a matter of days. Exhausting.
As far as K, we have not broached the subject of death with her. As we have been going through photos for Friday's service she has seen pics of Uncle and hasn't said a word. It's been a while since we saw him (5/30) so maybe she doesn't really remember him? Either way, we will wait to see if she asks about him, if and when she does we may try to approach it kind of like when her toys break and we can't fix them. We are not religious at all, so talking about Jesus or God, Heaven, Angels, etc. doesn't really fit into how we would describe death.
Oh yeah, how about the fact that we'll also have a butt load of people at my house on Friday evening and I haven't vacuumed in over a month. Too much to do....

Thinking of you.
Big hugs.
Big hugs. I think the way you are approaching it with K is great. I, too, would just wait until his name was brought up.
Death is never easy, especially when you have children. So sorry for your loss.
I am so very sorry!!! How sad for your family!! Hang in there!
